FAQ

What should I [not] Wear?

Please note that this will be a full, Catholic wedding Mass. We remind everyone to please wear something modest, but given that this is April, we don’t expect much of a challenge here!

Please also avoid wearing predominantly white so as to not match the bride. The wedding party has a purple colour scheme if you wish to avoid matching 🙂

What’s up with this Communion thing?

As Catholics, we believe that holy Communion is the literal body of God. Kinda crazy, we know, and there is a reason we literally call this a mystery. If you are curious, ask some practicing Catholic at the wedding about it. But what does this mean for you? If you are not a practicing Catholic, please do not receive holy Communion. At the point in the wedding Mass when Communion occurs, you are welcome to go to the front to receive a blessing (cross your arms over your chest to indicate this), or to remain in your pew. Don’t stress about this – we will remind everyone at the wedding Mass too.

Is it okay to take pictures with our phones and cameras during the wedding?

We respectfully ask that all cell phones and cameras be turned off, muted, and put away during the wedding Mass. We will have a professional photographer taking pictures which we will be happy to share with you. At the wedding reception – please feel free and take as many pictures as you like, as long as you share your favourites with us please!

What will the weather be like?

April showers bring May flowers … but we are almost at the end of April, so we are hoping for flowers 🙂

But your guess is as good as ours. If it is raining, the gravel road up to our reception may be quite muddy, but as long as you take the bottom or deck entrance into the venue, the parking lot itself should stay pretty mud free.

For the nerds among us, historical climate data can be found here.

Where should I park?

There is ample free parking at both the Church for the wedding Mass and at the reception venue.

Should we bring money for beverages?

No – we will not have a cash bar or be serving any alcohol with the exception that at each table, there will be a bottle of white, [and] a bottle of red, but there will not be any rosé tonight. You are welcome to bring your own alcohol to supplement, but please ensure you have a designated driver and a safe way back down to town. Be sure to keep in mind that we are in a rural nordic ski lodge, and buses, taxis, Ubers, etc. do not service this area.

Will last names be changing after the wedding?

Yes!
